Who is taking you?

For twenty-five years, I worked as an interior designer in the United States, with projects featured in Colorado Homes, Seattle Homes, and Better Homes & Gardens. I've spent my career learning how to read the history and quality of beautiful objects, what makes a space feel like a home rather than a showroom, and how the right item adds character and warmth to a room.

Amsterdam wasn't part of the original plan; moving to Europe was more of a “someday.” My husband Michael and I had always imagined a European chapter at some point in our lives. Then he was offered a position with a Dutch company based in Amsterdam, and "eventually" became 2023.

I won't pretend the first year was easy. I spent it guessing where to go and wondering if I'd ever feel as at home here as I did in the only country I'd ever lived. Slowly, things began to change, one shop owner, one conversation, and one market at a time. Strangers became friends, and the unfamiliar streets became my neighborhood. Then somewhere in that slow unfolding of a new city, I realized I'd built exactly the kind of network I once wished a guidebook could have handed me on day one.

That is how Amsterdam Design Walks came to be. I began hosting these tours out of a deep and personal passion for the city's design landscape. I get to share the Jordaan and the Noordermarkt the way I wish someone had shared with me three years ago: without the guesswork, without the overwhelm, and with someone who already knows where the hidden gems are.
